i am proud of you..

it is amazing to me to watch you now..

i remember when you were younger - how dependent you were, as any kid would be.. you counted on me (and your dad, of course) for everything - food, shelter, clothing.. every need was taken care of by someone other than yourself..

but i see you now, and i am just blown away at how self-sufficient you are.. you drive now, and you go places by yourself.. you take care of your needs.. you are so responsible!

little things like making a hair appointment and driving yourself there, or driving yourself to school, or being the "designated driver" for your friends who need a ride here and there - all these things are so new to me, and i can't help but grin really big and just feel a sense of pride..

i know you probably think this is really silly, and that i am just being a MOM.. ok, i probably am just a MOM, but i am YOUR MOM, and you totally impress me!

you are about to enter the 11th grade.. and i tell ya, Chris, you are such a remarkable young man.. i know the future is yours.. and i can't wait to see all the really cool things you do in your life..

i wanted to have a place to write down things i wanna tell you.. things that are just for you.. you are growing up - i can't believe you are already 16!! how did that happen so quickly?

anywho.. this blog is just for you, chris.. you can keep it to yourself, or share it with those you love - your choice.. i hope you enjoy reading.. and someday when i am not here anymore, i hope this will be one of the things that keep us close..
